Dear Parents, Students and Visitors,
Community School of Naples Athletics offers a broad-based sports program committed to excellence. Our student-athletes participate in 22 sports comprised of 47 different teams that compete at the Varsity, sub-Varsity and Middle School (MS) level. We abide by the rules and policies set forth by the State of Florida’s governing athletic body, the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA). As a valued member of the FHSAA, we compete in five different classification categories and are considered a “Combined School,” which allows CSN student-athletes in grades 6-12 to compete in a Varsity contest. Participation in athletics carries obligations that directly relate to sportsmanship, commitment and moral attitude. We believe competitive athletic opportunities remain an integral part of the overall educational experience at CSN. These physically rigorous activities nurture and develop teamwork, leadership, respect and integrity, vital threads in the fabric of excellence. Our aim is to forge global citizen leaders of tomorrow through rigorous athletic competition today. To that end, our coaches know the value of teamwork and commitment, yet understand the future of CSN athletics depends on leveraging the “all-in” student-athlete. As a department, we embrace the concept of winning with teamwork, leadership, respect and integrity on and off the field.
During 2015-16 our teams won nine District Championships and four Regional Championships. In fact, four of our teams competed in the FHSAA State Series “Final Four” and one team competed for a State Championship! Our individual successes mirrored our team honors as 12 CSN student-athletes were crowned Naples Daily News “Prep Athlete of the Week,” and one of them earned the honor three times. In addition, we witnessed record-breaking personal bests across a variety of sports. Two CSN Swimming records were broken, six CSN records in Track and Field fell, and new CSN records in goals, digs, aces and points in Soccer, Volleyball and Basketball were set. We crowned two State Champions in Discus, Shot Put and Pole Vault, plus our girl’s Track and Field Team finished fourth in the State out of 160 schools. Lastly, our girl’s athletic program was awarded the Class 3A Private Girls Division Floyd E. Lay Sunshine All-Sports Cup for 2015-16. This honor, presented by the FHSAA, calculates points earned in State Series competition; we had six teams competing in Regions and beyond!
Over the last two years, CSN senior classes averaged 12% of the students going to universities and colleges around the nation for that next level of athletics. We are excited to begin another school year and look forward to one more successful season. In addition, we ask for your continuing support. Please go to our website and peruse the different opportunities to support your favorite team or CSN athletics in general. Along with our Seahawk Booster Club, this year we’ve added additional Company/Business Sponsorship opportunities. Please help us become a premier athletic program known throughout the state of Florida and the nation. We feel deeply that athletics provides a platform to empower students to realize their own potential as engaged learners and responsible global citizens. GO SEAHAWKS!!!Col.
