December 2, 2020 Dear Parents, Colleagues, Students and Friends,
I write to you mid-week with news that we have seen a slight uptick in our COVID-19 numbers here at CSN. This was not entirely unexpected after the Thanksgiving break. However, it should serve to remind us all of the crucial importance of keeping our discipline up and our masks on.
This week we currently have four faculty and staff colleagues (out of 165 colleagues in total) who have tested positive and are out of school, together with five students who have tested positive (out of 871 students in total). Many of these colleagues and students will likely be able to return to school next week. These figures are not surprising, but they are higher than we have seen in previous weeks.
In addition, you may have heard earlier this week that the members of the Middle School Boys (A) basketball team have been asked to quarantine at home as a precaution for seven days, after a possible exposure during practice on Monday evening. To my knowledge, all the boys are absolutely fine and working well on AHL until their return. All being well, games and practices may likely return at the end of next week.
Furthermore, due to similar concerns arising from potential exposures of one or two cast members, we have made the decision to reschedule this weekend's performances of Grease - on the 50 Yard Line to January 18 and January 20, 2021. A separate communication on this will follow later today.
Our CSN community is strong, and it is resilient. Despite the speed at which we have had to adjust to our current reality and the great personal hardship this pandemic has inflicted upon so many, the mission of our school continues. The CSN experience has been different so far this year, but it will be no less transformative, and I am confident that our school will be stronger for it.
However, with under three weeks to go to our Holiday Break, I urge everyone to continue to exercise individual responsibility on and off the campus in order to ensure our collective well-being as a community and to keep our school safe and functioning well.
More this weekend in your Seahawk Scoop.
Kind regards,
Dr. David Watson Head of School
