April 30, 2020 Coronavirus Update from Head of School: April 30 2020 Dear Colleagues, Students, Parents and Friends,
I do hope that you and your families are staying well.
I want to reiterate to everyone that Community School of Naples is not just an excellent place of teaching and learning for your children, the school is also a good employer and community partner. Notwithstanding the unusual circumstances in which we find ourselves, CSN has committed to paying all our employees in full with all benefits for the rest of this current school year. Moreover, despite a very considerable loss of projected revenue (around $1million) from our postponed Angel Ball, other giving and cancelled events this year, we remain nonetheless fully committed to meeting all our obligations to our students and parents in terms of financial aid awards for the coming school year. Indeed I am pleased to note that many of these financial awards have already been distributed and received by parents. Excellent news. Our enrollment for next year is looking very healthy.
That commitment to our CSN families and students is very important to us. We understand the complexities of the times we are living in right now and want to offer as much assistance as we always have to all who need it in our community.
As you know, your annual tuition at CSN includes the cost of breakfast and lunch for each student throughout the school year. I am sure you will agree with me that the excellent provision of food service, assured through SAGE Dining since the Dining Hall opened in 2017, has been such a fabulous addition to the CSN experience for all our students.
When on March 13, 2020 it was announced that all school campuses in Florida would be closed for an extended period, which has recently now included the remainder of the current school year, the daily provision of our regular food service came to an abrupt halt.
Therefore, it has been decided that, to those families who are not already receiving some form of financial aid or tuition remission from the school, CSN will be crediting your school account as a reimbursement for the lost school days of food service from March 13 to the end of the current school year.
The credits have been calculated as follows :
Upper School student $275.52 Middle School student $250.56 Lower School student $225.60
If you do not have a balance on your CSN account, a check will be mailed to you. As I have said many times, Community School of Naples lives up to its name every day.
Should you have any questions, please contact the school Business Office. Enjoy CSN College Acceptance Day tomorrow. Details on our college successes this year in next week's communications from me.
As always, keep calm, carry on and "Vaske hendene dine". (Thank you, Mrs. Lewton…) More on Monday.
Kind Regards, Dr. David Watson Head of School
