April 27, 2020 Coronavirus Update from Head of School: April 27 2020 Dear Colleagues, Students, Parents and Friends,
It will be a short week this week with Friday as our 2020 College Acceptance Day, as per my most recent communications to everyone. Therefore, let's fill the four days with extra special projects and active learning for all.
I hope you all saw the Athletic Department's Spring Sports video last week and the Upper School Prize giving. There will be more coming soon I also want to draw your attention to the three "Coffees" which Dr Moviel, Mrs. Potocki and Dr Johnson will be holding over the coming couple of weeks. This will be everyone's chance to give and receive feedback on how the CSN Distance Learning experience is going for everyone.
We have begun the process of finalizing our plans for end of year events and the format which they will take this year. Graduation for the Class of 2020 is a particularly important favorite. An announcement will be coming from the Upper School this week on how we propose to celebrate our graduating seniors during this complicated year. I think it will meet with everyone's approval.
The new chores in one's regular life (doing the dishes, putting the trash out,) these days have become markers and mileposts of our new routine. Turning on the computer to see our teacher every morning has become our students' new daily switch-on moment. By owning these times and making them part of our days, we learn to celebrate them in an odd kind of way, in that they give shape and color to a period which could easily become amorphous and bland. Have your children stick to the new routine, parents. Make it work for you too. When we arrive on the other side of this temporary period of some disquiet and much incertitude through which we are living, we will have made memories, good and otherwise, to last many years.
One foot in front of the other, students. You are living and making history.
So keep calm, everyone, carry on and Πλένετε τα χέρια σας. (Thank you, Plato)
More on Thursday.
Kind Regards, Dr. David Watson Head of School
