Despite the school closure, 10 MS Mathletes were able to compete online in their first official match of the year in the AreteLabs tournament on Friday, Sept. 30.
Our Mathletes represented CSN well, defeating their opponent, the Brookstone School Cougars Math team of Columbus, Georgia, in a close match by a score of 25 to 24. They had previously been working on the weekends, attending a two-hour practice session on Saturday, Sept. 24. Mathletes presented ideas and solutions to problems, compared methods, and competed in a Blooket game to practice all they had learned. Future weekend sessions are planned to increase practice time as Mathletes prepare to compete in Noetic, Math Olympiad, MathCounts, AMC8 and other competitions.
