CSN All-State Individual Performances
State Champions:
Nick Molloy '22 made his school record-breaking vault of 4.70 m (15'5") look easy to win his first state title! Nick was at the state meet his freshman year, the only freshman among a sea of seniors. Whereas then he finished in a promising 10th, as the upperclassman to beat this year he did not disappoint. His first-place finish marks the third time a CSN pole vaulter has mounted the podium for a State Champion medal.
Loren Brown '21 chased down a state title that had eluded her for four years. A powerhouse hurdler early in her career, Loren had been among the favorites to win the 300h when she was a sophomore, but she crashed into a hurdle and limped through the line for 8th.  With no chance of redemption in the blunted 2020 season, Loren came into 2021 with a monkey on her back and a goal to win. Earlier in the meet on Friday, she raced to an impressive 2nd place finish in the 100m hurdles (14.78).  Approaching the last hurdle of the 300m race in second, Loren ran down top seed Camila Garanton of Carrollwood to win the race and claim her first State Championship title in 44.45 seconds. To win the last race of her high school career while also breaking her own school record is the perfect end to a successful high school career. The University of Chicago will be lucky to have Loren Brown on their roster next year.
All-State:
In their first State appearances, seniors Olivia Weiss and Panos Dimaras made their marks for the Seahawks in the throws. Olivia, a USAF Academy commit, will continue her young javelin career there. She threw 30.51m (100' 1") on Friday to claim the bronze medal for a 3rd place finish on the award podium. Battling a gusty crosswind, Olivia sealed her spot on her third of four throws, making history as an All-State javelin thrower in the event's debut in the FHSAA state series. Although Panos will be attending Ithaca College in NY as a standout cellist, he decided to pick up a discus for the first time this spring. Under the instruction of CSN discus record holder Dan Paul, Panos has enjoyed an incredible senior year, making qualifying to regionals in both the discus and shot, and advancing to the state finals in the discus. He was ranked 9th place going in, but knocked off one spot to earn the coveted all-state honors for 8th place 38.67m (126'10"). CSN sophomore Darius Beauvoir competed in the boys' long jump. He finished in 12th place.

Incredibly, the point totals for the CSN team scores reflect the points earned by just two athletes per gender. For the girls to earn 24 points off two athletes is a feat in itself. Congrats to all for representing the Seahawks so well!
