State Science & Engineering Results

Amaya Etcheverry ’24 won 4th place in microbiology, and Caroline Guerra ’23 won $1050 in cash awards, multiple commendations, and an honorable mention in engineering.

Due to their outstanding results at the Thomas Alva Edison Regional Science and Engineering Fair earlier this year, two CSN students earned invitations to the Florida State Fair held at the Lakeland Convention Center in late March. Only a total of twelve students from our region were chosen for this prestigious event, and both of our students went on to earn recognition at the state level! Amaya Etcheverry ’24 won 4th place in microbiology with her project entitled Phytoplankton in Air Purification, and Caroline Guerra ’23 won $1050 in cash awards, multiple commendations, and an honorable mention in engineering with her project on Bioplastics from Banana Peels. There were close to 350 other projects at the fair in the high school division.

In addition, Amaya and Caroline have been asked to present their research at the Scientist Society of Southwest Florida on April 21 in Fort Myers. We are so excited for our students to have these unique opportunities!
