R-E-S-P-E-C-T, Courage and Kindness

Youth Frontiers recently visited with CSN’s 4th, 7th and 9th grades during the annual Respect, Courage and Kindness retreats.

The purpose of these Youth Frontiers programs is to change the way young people treat each other by instilling more compassion and respect in their relationships and interactions with others. The Respect Retreat was held Tuesday, March 15 for all freshmen along with 32 leaders from the senior class. They learned what school would be like if everyone was respected, and were then challenged to respect themselves and others.  The Courage Retreat for the 7th graders was on Wednesday, March 16 and was led by 20 junior leaders. The students participated in activities to promote introspection and develop strategies to display daily courage in social situations and peer interactions. This day included dancing, large group activities, small-group discussion, and individual commitment to standing up for friends and the students' own beliefs. The Kindness Retreat for 4th grade students took place on Thursday, March 17. Sixteen sophomore student leaders took charge and helped build a fun environment for their younger buddies. They practiced scenarios to develop empathy and promote kindness. All three days were filled with high-energy activities, small group discussions, and time to share thoughts, feelings, and commitments with their peers at the end of each day.  It was an entertaining and unifying experience for our CSN students! Click here for photos from all three events.
