After the cancellation of the 2020 season and what was to be the first annual Private 8 Track & Field Conference Championship, the member schools (FBA, CSN, Bishop Verot, Seacrest, SJN, SFCA, ECS, and Canterbury) battled out their first-ever Conference Championships under scorching heat this week at ECS. Each first-place finisher for the day sets the mark as the Private 8 Conference record holder, and CSN, finishing in 4th place for the boys and 7th place for the girls, claims four first place spots, two from the boys’ side and two from the girls.
The boys’ competition was particularly close, as the teams in 3rd through 6th place were each separated by one point per place (3rd place 90, 4th place 89, 5th place 88, 6th place 87
points). CSN’s junior Nick Molloy broke the Seahawk’s school record with a vault of 4.68m (15’4.25”), ranking him 1st in Class 1A and tied for 2nd for all high school vaulters in the state of Florida! Also setting a first place Conference record was sophomore Darius Beauvoir who leaped 5.93 meters (19’5 ½ “) to win the long jump. Darius scored in all four of his events (long jump, 4x100, 4x400, and 200m dash).
CSN boys enjoyed several other notable top-8 finishes:
2nd place 4x800m relay: 9:06.60 (Lupo, Mastrangelo, Foland, Shaffer)
2nd place pole vault: Simon Weardon: 3.65m
2nd place shot put: Panos Dimaras 13.20 m (43’3 ¾”)

7th place 1600m run: Chase Lupo: 5:00.92
8th place: Javelin: Jacob Baer 29.0 m
On the girls’ side, CSN was not as deep but still boasted some outstanding performances. Seniors Loren Brown and Olivia Weiss were the Private 8 Conference record setters in the 100m hurdles and the javelin. Loren’s 14.67 s in the 100m hurdles put her ahead by only .01 seconds, and also breaks her own school record! An unfortunate crash into a hurdle during the 300h kept her out of the top 8 for that event. Loren is now ranked 1st in the 100m hurdles for Class 1A. Olivia scored in all three of her throwing events, setting an impressive standard of 31.80m (101’2”) to win the javelin and move up to 3rd in the Class 1A rankings. Olivia was also 5th in the discus and 6th in the shot put, directly behind teammate Kathleen Donahue.
Other top-8 finishers for the Lady Seahawks are:
4th place 3200: Grace O’Malley 13:08.28
4th place discus: Kathleen Donahue 22.50m
5th place 4x100m relay: (Park, Brown, Hagenbuckle, Brown) 54.54 s
