Pointers Presented on College Admission

The next Headmaster’s Roundtable will take place on Dec. 8 featuring Mr. Ross Gelb, our District Manager from SAGE Dining, who will update parents on recent and future improvements.  There will be time for a Q&A.

CSN recently hosted a Headmaster’s Roundtable featuring Mr. Nate Crozier, Assistant Vice President of Admission and Marketing at the University of Miami.  Mr. Crozier heads UM undergraduate admissions and sits on the university’s senior leadership team.  He sought to illuminate the college admissions process through an exploration of student application strategy and university decision-making perspectives.

In the animated conversation that included the more than 60 parents and trustees in attendance, Mr. Crozier discussed the challenges of university admission as the landscape of higher education changes rapidly.  While outlining the different ways that students can engage the college process, Mr. Crozier highlighted the advantages of Early Decision and Early Action applications in an ever more competitive environment.  At the same time, he emphasized how COVID and the turmoil around standardized testing have made college admission even more selective.

After his lively presentation to parents, Mr. Crozier met with several Board members to discuss CSN’s approach to college admission, emphasizing the value of a balanced approach to academic rigor and student care.  At the end of the morning, Mr. Crozier met with a select group of CSN faculty to discuss the writing of teacher letters of recommendation, and how we can continue to best represent students.

The next Headmaster’s Roundtable will take place on Dec. 8 featuring Mr. Ross Gelb, our District Manager from SAGE Dining, who will update parents on recent and future improvements.  There will be time for a Q&A.
