MS HAWKMUNC

CSN MS students are preparing to tackle world problems.

Thirty-one members of the MS Model United Nations elective course stayed on a recent Friday after school to attend the first MS HAWKMUNC.  Representing a variety of countries, students acted as delegates of various nations and worked within their committees to debate, negotiate, and try to resolve two world issues: international drug trafficking and the South China Sea dispute.  Previous MS Model UN veterans, CSN freshmen Egor Kuznetsov, Sadie Lipman, William “Jack” Preston and Nuha Rahman, chaired the committees.  Awards were given for the best-written position paper, the delegate who negotiated the best, and the top delegate.  The following students were recipients of awards for their preparation for and participation:

International Drug Trafficking:
- Best Position Paper: Karina Hagenbuckle ‘26
- Best Negotiator: Luke Runco ‘26
- Best Delegate: Maxwell Dockweiler ‘27

South China Sea Dispute:
- Best Position Paper: George Barbounis ‘27
- Best Negotiator: Myles Freedman ‘28
- Best Delegate: Jonathan Brugger ‘26

Overall, coach/teachers Ms. MacLean and Ms. Stasik were incredibly proud of the determination and grit that the students brought to the conference, and look forward to seeing them tackle world problems to create global initiatives in the next two conferences this quarter.
