Helping Save the Panthers

Celie Dockweiler came in 4th place in an art contest aimed at educating students on the plight of this endangered species.

This year, CSN’s 4th and 5th grade students, led by art teacher Angela MacDonald, participated in the Never Say Goodbye to Florida Panthers 2021-22 Art Challenge Contest sponsored by FGCU’s Wings of Hope program. The purpose of this program, which our 4th graders attend each year, is to educate students about the 120-130 adult Florida panthers left in the world. Students learn about these animals and ways in which they can help save and protect this endangered species.

We are thrilled to announce that 4th grader Celie Dockweiler won 4th place out of approximately 2,000 art entries from students from 20 area schools.  On Nov. 16, Celie was presented with prize money, a one-year family membership at the Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens, and other panther-related memorabilia. Her artwork will be displayed at FGCU later this year.  We are so proud of Celie!
