On the evening of Friday, March 26, twenty US students gathered for a joint meeting of CSN’s Model UN and Harvard Model Congress. Each student acted as a delegate from a different country. As delegates, the students researched and presented their country’s official stance on the protection of wildlife. Junior Paolo Varriale and senior Nina Pitonakova chaired the meeting, training delegates on parliamentary procedure and debate. Sophomore Henry Donath (representing Russia) won the honor of Best Delegate. Sophomore Ali Lagergren (representing Brazil) won the Outstanding Delegate Award.
MUN advisors Ms. Herting and Mr. Thomas work with HMC advisors Dr. Johnson and Mrs. Rovins to guide students in research and train them in healthy debate. The March event marks the second Hawk-MUNC of this school year. Both events allowed US students of all ages to explore big ideas and reflect upon critical global issues in a meaningful way.
