Eye on Alumni

On March 8, alumnus Christian Tang ’20 visited AP English Language and Composition classes.

Christian, a sophomore at Emory University, visited Naples during his spring break.  He shared with students his reflections about his time at CSN, and discussed how the work that he did during his Seahawk years formed the foundation for his current success as a finance major.  Christian advised the AP English Language students, who are rapidly approaching the end of their junior year, to practice their critical writing skills.  He also encouraged them to think carefully about what excites them and to apply to colleges that will foster that passion.  “Think of your college essay as a love letter to the schools you’re applying to,” Christian suggested.  “If you are able to replace the name of your top-choice school with another college, like Stanford or Michigan, and the letter still works, then you are not being specific enough about why this school is the one for you. The college essay is your best chance to let the admissions people know who you are as a person, so make it count.”

Christian has enjoyed meeting new people at Emory, as he remains in touch with his friends from the Class of 2020.  Thank you Christian, for stopping by your alma mater, and best of luck with the rest of the spring term in Atlanta!
