CSN Sending Robots to Worlds

As Design and Amaze Award recipients, these CSN robots qualified to compete in the VEX Robotics World Championship on May 5-7 in Dallas, where more than 2800 robots representing dozens of countries will compete in divisions as young as 3rd grade up to college.

CSN students on Robotics Team 94M (Felicie Hoffmann '24, Megan D'Souza '25, and Melita D'Souza '25) won the Top Design award at the Florida State VEX Robotics Championship hosted last Sunday at Immokalee HS. Team 94Z (seniors Anadi Shukla, Zach Smallwood, Trey Verhelle, and Ben Ouaou, and junior William Zhang) won the Amaze Award for "the most consistently high scoring and competitive robot.” The action-packed day involving 40 robots from around the state required students to execute the 2021-22 VEX Robotics Competition game, Tipping Point, presented by the Robotics Education & Competition (REC) Foundation.

The day before, MS Robot 494A (Toby Kopecny ’26 and Gabriel Miller ’26) faced off against 15 of the best middle school Florida robots. After an exciting day of qualification matches, and reaching the quarter finals, the judges presented 494A with the Amaze Award for "the most consistently high scoring and competitive robot.” Mr. Headrick, the team’s coach said, " I am very proud of Gabe and Toby and wouldn’t be surprised if they qualify for VEX Worlds next year.”
