CSN Actors Break Legs

The Broadway Star of the Future awards program, affiliated with the National High School Musical Theatre Awards (NHSMTA), returned to CSN to review the US fall play Peter and the Starcatcher

Junior Leonard Allen was nominated for Outstanding Performer in a Leading Role for his performance as Black Stache, and senior Sam Bayer was nominated for Outstanding Performer in a Supporting Role for his performance as Slank.  The reviewer also mentioned wonderful performances by seniors Ali Lagergren and Alan Yu, sophomore Hadley Murphey, and freshmen Daniel Panek and Samantha Calleja.   Winners of awards will be announced in April.  Below are some reviewer comments:

"I love this show. I think it is a perfect show to work on with high schoolers because it can have very interesting and creative staging and it also has relatable themes for high school aged students.   The stage pictures for this production were very strong. I like the use of human doors, ropes, ladders, and suitcases, as multi-use props, and the strong use of the ensemble to help create "magic" moments.  I think the whole team did a nice job with a deceptively difficult play (especially considering the lost rehearsals for the hurricane--this play is really tough when you have a full rehearsal schedule)!  I want to sing the praises of the choreographer (Karen Danni) for the mermaid number at the top of Act 2 in recognizing the ability of their students and creating a really fun and dynamic start to the second act!”
