Robot 94M Attends Haunted Competition

Robot Team 94M competed at the VEX signature event "Haunted" in Birmingham, Alabama last Saturday and Sunday.

A team of seniors, Roman Akimov, Wyatt Cunningham, Megan D'Souza and Melita D'Souza, designed and built 94M to play the VEX Game "High Stakes." The game consists of a two-minute battle where robots race to score rings on stakes, steal mobile goals and try to climb a four-foot ladder at the end.

94M did not make it to the finals, but by all metrics was a strong contender. The national event attracted 79 robots from 11 states and Canada. The tournament was held within Birmingham's historic SLOSS Furnaces, a significant engineering and industrial landmark, rising to prominence in the early 1900s as one of the largest pig-iron producers in the world and playing a vital role in both World Wars.

Coach Sean Headrick claimed, "Legend has it that the facility is haunted, adding a touch of mystery to the nighttime matches."
