This past Saturday, 14 students from the MS Model United Nations elective class headed to Gulf Coast High School to participate in SharkMUNC VIII.
This high school conference offered the MS team the opportunity to test their skills against older students. Some of the committees focused on common problems that the United Nations tries to resolve, such as the loss of biodiversity and protecting the rights of refugee children. There were also some committees focused on specialized topics (High Society, Low Economy) and crisis committees (Cold War Soviet Cabinet).
The team had a strong showing, impressing the other advisors and students with their poise and confidence. The following students were recognized during the awards ceremony for their committee efforts:
John Fontana '29 - Verbal Commendations
Isaac Melamed '30 - Best Position Paper
Justin Cantor '29 - Honorable Delegate
Romeo Callari '29 - Outstanding Delegate
The team is coached by Mrs. Leigh Stasik and Ms. Fiona MacLean. Congratulations to all involved!
