CSN's MS Mathletes dominated the field of 68 competitors from six schools in our region at last Saturday’s MATHCOUNTS Chapter competition at Dunbar High School in Fort Myers.
Our stellar team, comprising Ariana S., John F., Harold H., and Nash S., clinched 1st place, earning a spot at the State competition. It was a remarkable moment when the top 10 individual competitors were named, and astonishingly, nine were from CSN! These top students went head-to-head in a countdown round, predominantly featuring CSN students competing against one another. Yet a student from Village School showcased exceptional speed on the buzzer, advancing through the ranks to challenge John in the nail-biting final round. John emerged victorious, securing the 1st place with an exciting performance. This achievement belongs to all MS Mathletes. Forty students this year are enrolled in the Mathletics elective course. Their shared passion for competitive math and their dedication to improving together in class, during two-hour Saturday practice sessions, and by attending weekly 8th period coaching sessions run by US juniors Megan and Melita have led to this success.
Here are the final individual results. Ethan’s ranking secures his spot at the State competition to compete as an individual, and Matteo’s ranking secures his spot as our team’s alternate.
