CSN Dominates at Regional Science Fair

Last week, the following students from 7th and 8th grade represented CSN at the Collier County Regional Science Fair: Eva G. '29, Ariana S. ’29, John F. ’29, Leela P. ’29, Arabella A. ’28, Sofi U. ’28 and Harold H. ’28.

These students competed against over 80 middle and high school students from Collier County. 

On Wednesday night, four of these students received awards from the Collier Regional Fair. These awards were: 

  • 3rd place in Chemistry: Ariana S. – How do different fertilizer brands affect the pH level of soil?
  • 1st place in Biology: Arabella A. – Study of the Antimicrobial Effectiveness with Zones of Inhibition of Natural Antibiotics on Serratia Marcescens as Alternatives to Synthetic Antibiotics
  • 1st place in Earth & Environmental Science: John F. – Carbon Dioxide Combatants: Observing Different Plants’ Absorptions of Carbon Emissions
  • Grand Prize Award for Earth & Environmental Science and Merit Award: Harold H. – How Does the Coarseness of Biodegradable Hydrogels Affect Plant Growth

Harold additionally qualified for the Florida State Science Fair and will be representing CSN in April with his research on hydrogels. Congratulations to these students for all of their hard work!
