CSN sent 33 freshmen and sophomores to Mark McGarity’s Freshman/Sophomore Meet at Lely HS on Tuesday.
The meet is open to all high schools in Collier County, and it honors the late track coach Mark McGarity, who first started the meet to encourage younger athletes. The “PR Bell” is a staple at the meet – and several CSN athletes got to ring it after posting season best marks.
New Personal Records: Devon Poirier 100m, Miguel Augustine 200m, Johnny Brugger 200m and 400m, Toby Kopecny 800m, Anderson McAdams 1600m, Bennett Talford 1600m, Darius Zafar shot put, Eric Hechenberger shot put; Mimi Goldberg 1600, Grace Cunningham 1600, Adrianna Carvelli 200m, Sophie Mokhiber 400m, Mia Schmieding 400m, Brooke Behrens 400m, Elle Schulman 400m, Sienna Audrey 800m, Anna Hobdari 800m, and Shanaya Goemare 800m.
First Place Medalists: The girls 4x800 meter relay squad of sophomores of Hanna Hagenbuckle, Sophie Mokhiber, Mia Schmieding, and Sienna Audrey crossed the line in 10:32.92, a full minute ahead of 2nd place. Individual event winners were Josia Pellant (javelin), Cameron Brenner (pole vault), and Sienna Audrey (800m).
In the team rankings, the boys placed 7th and the girls placed 8th out of 11 schools.
