The Gift of Time, Talent and Resources
The most powerful partnership in independent schools is the crucial alliance between parents and schools, working together for the good of their children. This is a mutual commitment and requires everyone to contribute in whatever ways and measures they can. Independent schools depend on the generosity of parents and friends to volunteer time and expertise, to participate in school life and to support us financially.
Gifts are necessary because tuition gives your child access to more than you are paying for. At CSN, tuition covers about 85 percent of the cost of educating your child. In a way, every student at our school receives financial support. That's why schools need annual funds, endowments, financial aid programs and capital drives.
A school's special resources drive the budget up – to attract and retain the very best teachers, keep class sizes and student-teacher ratios down, to make the school affordable and accessible to qualified students, to insure that our facilities provide exceptional learning environments and to support all our curricular and extracurricular programs. Unlike a for-profit business whose mission is to make money, our mission is to provide a superior education. Today, that is a very expensive enterprise.
In short, financial support preserves the very independence families seek when they choose CSN – the freedom from bureaucracy, freedom from mediocrity, the freedom to choose excellence and the freedom to participate in the education of their children.
These are gifts that keep on giving!
