The Community School of Naples is fortunate to have such a dedicated group of parent volunteers. The generous support of these volunteers makes it possible for CSN to stage many activities and events throughout the academic year for students, families, and the community at large. On campus, our parent volunteers offer support to teachers and departments for curriculum-based activities and events. Volunteer involvement is crucial toward maintaining a culturally rich and thriving school community. Just this past academic year, over 100 parent volunteers donated in excess of 8,000 hours. These hours translate into a tremendous cost savings for CSN: approximately $100,000 per year!
The following list features examples of events and activities made possible through the commitment of our dedicated volunteers:
Artwork by students in all grades is displayed in the Pfeil Gallery in the Landi Media Arts Center. Volunteers are needed to assist students in displaying their work. |

The library is truly the “hub” of our school. Several volunteers are needed both in the Lower and Intermediate sections of the library, as well as upstairs in the Middle and Upper School sections, to help check out, shelve books and assist students. Interested volunteers are contacted at the beginning of the school year and a schedule will be devised based upon parents’ availability. |
Volunteers are needed in classrooms in all grades to help with different projects and functions throughout the school year. We ask that parents sign up to be classroom representatives for only one child per division, as many events and parties are held on the same day and may conflict. |
The large bulletin board outside the Morris Activity Center is one of the focal points of our school. Several times a year, parent volunteers plan a theme and design the bulletin board, often with a grade level’s participation. |
Character education involves all members of the school community: faculty, students, and parents. Goals of the committee include developing educational programs and activities that promote moral behavior as defined by our core values. Volunteers are needed to become committee members who work to establish a consistently appropriate moral climate within our community. |

Each year volunteers spend many hours photographing students during our many events at school, and arranging the pages of CSN’s LS/IS yearbook. Volunteers who enjoy taking snapshots or have experience in layout and publishing are always needed. |
Each academic year, a variety of special events are held on campus at The Community School of Naples and coordinated by the CSN Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and the Volunteer Coordinator.
A popular event for students in grades PK through 8, Field Day is held in November, just before the Thanksgiving break. This event is a day of fun competitive activities organized by the athletic department. Field Day requires many parent volunteers to assist with games and serving food. |
A tradition for students in grades PK through 5, the Thanksgiving Feast luncheon takes place just before the Field Day activities begin. A feast is provided for students and parents in the Lower and Intermediate grades, with parent volunteers bringing in additional desserts and fruit dishes to share. Any unused food is donated to local charities. |
Students, grades PK-12, are invited to have breakfast with Dad or a special male friend at this January event. Volunteers are needed to set up and strike decorations and tables and to greet and serve coffee and juices during the event. |
Scheduled in February, CSN welcomes grandparents and/or family friends from all over the United States and Europe at this annual event. Many volunteers are needed to plan, set up, serve refreshments, and act as guides, among other duties. |
Throughout the year, casual luncheon buffets are provided by PTO volunteers to show appreciation to the CSN faculty and staff. Volunteers are needed to help plan and serve food. |
