Summer Athletics 2017

Dear Parents & Students

Community School of Naples (CSN) Athletics provides our students the opportunity to hone their leadership skills, test their character, elevate their confidence and challenge their dedication to something bigger than themselves.  Our athletic department and coaches remain committed to “Excellence” and the values practiced on the courts, courses, tracks, mounds, fields and pools.  The commitment of our Coaches truly set our programs apart and are essential as we “Forge global citizen leaders of tomorrow through rigorous athletic competition today.”  Once again, we enjoyed an 80% athletic participation rate for Upper School (US) students on Junior Varsity and Varsity rosters and 73% Middle School (MS) students on an MS team.  In fact, 28 MS student-athletes played on 3 or more teams during the year and 25 of them also maintained above a 3.0 GPA!  In May, we celebrated our MS athletic program during an Assembly which included honoring 50 MS students that earned either a JV or Varsity roster slot.  In the US, 34% of our graduating Senior class earned 4 or more Varsity letters during their high school career while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher, 10% earned and accepted the opportunity to compete at the NCAA level at various Universities and Colleges around the nation and 6.25% of them take their talents to the NCAA Division I ranks, which triples the national average of student-athletes able to play at that level.

During 2016 – 2017, 10 teams earned a District Champion or Runner-up title, 8 teams went on to Region competition (5 competed in Region Semi-Finals) and 1 team made it all the way to the State Semi-Final game!  We had several individual student-athletes compete at the State Series level in boy’s tennis, boy’s track and girl’s swimming.  Other individual successes include 10 student-athletes crowned Naples Daily News “Prep Athlete of the Week,” 6 players nominated for “Player of the Year” Finalists and 1 player as a Finalist for the “I AM NIKE” award!  CSN student-athletes earned a record-setting 58 All-State or All-Area selections in 14 of 20 sanctioned FHSAA sports.  In order for our teams and student-athletes to gain that “Competitive Edge” needed to succeed—we must provide physical activity outlets over the summer.   Although we are proud of these statistics, we understand and value the work and dedication needed by our student-athletes and their families to make it all happen.  Much of the success comes from off-season and summer conditioning.  Please take a look at the multiple options which exist for the upcoming summer—if you put the effort and time in this summer, winning records and championships will follow.  Good luck and GO SEAHAWKS!!!
